Battery charging or not?

When I look at live values, my alternator is giving plenty of current and its curent and load varies if I switch things on or off. The battery voltage is 14.5 but the battery current seems to be around 1 amp all the time and the quiescent charge and discharge is always zero.
I am trying to find out if my battery is actually charging OK since these figures seem a bit odd but then it could be I am looking at the wrong things or misinterpreting.
Any advice please?
thanks

Understanding battery charging can be extremely confusing, adding to this is the weird charging system in the D4 preprogrammed to keep fuel consumption and emissions low. Many things like battery temperature, ambient temperature, engine speed, state of charge, battery load etc etc will effect the alternator output. You are more likely to see increased charging rate during braking and overrun.
Unless you have a specific low battery warning, then I think you should not get too worried

When i get all the warning lights on, the last one is battery charging error so I am trying to find out if the new battery I put in is actually ok or the root cause of all the warning lights

Did you reset the battery monitoring in the bcm when you fitted the new battery?
