What battery charger should I get?

I’m going to order a Gap Diagnostic tool this week, and have been reading up and have seen that I’ll need to use a battery charger with it?

One was mentioned several times in a thread I found, but can’t find any longer....I think it was a CTEK?

What model of CTEK should I get, or is there something else I should consider?

Also, how do I actually set up this charger thing? Never used one before!

Have a look at this thread:-

My view is that the MX10 is about right, although I bought a larger one.

Thanks for that. I think that was the link I’d found initially.

Over on the D3 Facebook group, I’m being told that a battery charger is only necessary for the biggest updates, and not necessary most of the time?

Is this correct?

Well.

Generalizing slightly most people seem to do updates without continuous power supplied from an external source. The risk is that if you run out of juice in the middle of an update you might be in trouble.

That being said, in general, updating is discouraged unless you have an issue you need to get fixed (like California stop) and it isn’t like there are new firmware updates coming. Most updates take a few minutes only. Same with editing CCF, it can be done without but it’s just a general precaution have the power source.
