Battery charge percentage

Anyone know how the tool calculates this? I have 12.6 volts and 85% but sometimes with 12.45 I have 98%
I know it is an estimate but it seems a bit awry

well it monitors current in and out the battery terminal

And when you reset it / tell it it's had a new battery, it must assume its 100% I guess ?

Maybe that is what you should do if you have a problem.
Disconnect battery. Charge battery overnight.
Connect up and use IID to say it's had a new battery

Infact you don't need to disconnect it really. Just charge direct onto battery terminals

All the warning lights come on starting with HDC and then all the others, lowered suspension, limp, gearbox fault etc etc. I changed the battery for a new one and I am not sure if the battery is good or not

Another spin-off thread?

I've lost track of what testing you've done and what results you got.

The IID tool regularly reports battery voltage ~.3v lower than actual on my vehicle (checked with DMM on the battery terminals). This is perhaps due to voltage drop, could also be how the voltage is read.

Get yourself a digital multimeter and remove all doubt. Handy tool for much more than just checking battery charge, too.

No, sorry. This thread was just to ask a specific question about the tool which would have ben lost in the original thread (s)

All the voltages I measure are with a digital multimeter btw
