Battery CCA
Could someone tell me what the minimum spec is for a TDV6 battery please.
I was looking at buying a 90Ah 720 CCA
However I noticed the LR one fitted is 90Ah 950 CCA which seams rare.
What CCA are most people using?

indeed the book says H8 90amp/Hour for the TDV6 2.7
i did fit an exide EA1000 017 which gives 100Ah / 900cca (en)
however i will fit a 019 battery next time , have got a split charge T max system
dimensions of my Exide battery are 353mm long x 175mm wide x 190mm high

When you ask a citroen dealer, the C6 with our engine mounts a 95Ah and 950A CCA calcium batt. Now LR give an AGM with 90Ah and 850CCA.
Ah is the capacity of the battery (litres of energy that the batt could give us) the CCA is the speed of delivering this energy (the pressure that is able to deliver, "punch power"). There is more technical details like time and temps, but hydraulics is a very understandable approach.
You could have a very high capacity batt and not be able to crank because the cranking amps that the batt gives are too low.
Citroen L5 battery type. Same dimensions, 353x175x190, but with 95Ah and 950A CCA (CCA is as high as LR calcium original, now not available).

Is not easy to find a battery with such high CCA in aftermarket. With this dimensions there is a range that usually goes from 720 and tops at 900. The citroen one is 50amps higher than Exide like LR original. I'm not saying that exide is a lesser batt at all. Only less powerful at cranking.
I have a brand new citroen one (made by varta) in my D4 replacing LR original calcium as precaution since its was the factory one, many years old (around 8) and cold was coming. It was not failing at all.
I got the citroen because is calcium and as my D4 is not start stop, it don't need an AGM at all. Get a good deal when asking for some equivalences of spares for the D4 and picked one. (Astonishing price differences in EXACTLY the same parts)
Going strong with very fast cranking. Very happy with it.
Answering your question, I think that anything with or over 850 is enough and many Discoverys that I have seen have around this CCA with no probs at all.
720? It will crank and start but as the batt ages if will fail sooner that a batt with higher CCA.
A have a car that have a 70ah batt and one employee mounted a 640A batt when on mission in other country to save money. The cranking sound was "exhausted" since mounted and delayed the start on cold weather. After that we mounted a 800A with same dimensions (yes, you guess it, a citroen one, as it was the one with higher CCA we could find even looking at aftermarket best brands) and now it turns so fast and start in half a turn even freezing.
Power matters. In my experience, take the biggest and powerful you can.
