Basic Key Pairing Questions |
|
Hey All,
I'm interested to read more about the key pairing process using the IID tool and my LR3. I assume there must be a sticky on this that I am missing, if someone could please link me.
The information provided with the IID tool manual is quite limited around this procedure and I haven't been able to find exactly what I'm looking for on the forum (probably wrong search terms).
My questions are as follows and apply to a 2007 LR3 which uses the 315mhz key fobs;
1) Is it possible to pair a genuine land rover key that has been used on a different vehicle?
Reading the forum it appears the keys can only be programmed once and then they need to be wiped before they can be reprogrammed? Again I can't find anything concrete on this? When I try myself using a previously used LR key the process fails for that key and any subsequent key I try after this.
2) Are the non genuine (ie ebay/Amazon) keys the same as the LR Original Keys or are the chips slightly different to allow programming? Can you reprogram a non genuine key again on a different vehicle?
3) Will a non genuine (ie ebay/Amazon) key still allow the car to start if the remote battery is dead? This questions somewhat relates to the above, I'm concerned if maybe the non genuine key writes to volatile memory.
4) Can a key be programmed if the remote battery is flat/missing?
5) What is the maximum number of keys that can be programmed?
Thanks in advance
Shane

hey to clarify
You can code only a virgin key ( new or used does not matter - second hand key needs to be reopened for programming)
Aliex keys and genuine keys are basically different but both program pretty well if correct for the vehicle ( need to be PCF based)
Yes the car can still be started even if aliexpress key goes flat
Yes can code the key with flat - missing battery The Old rangies do not go mad, they mad go
