As I understand the BAS unit can take signal from a gsm unit to start the heater.
I have an electric preheater with a 1200 meter remote, fully programmable, called Defa Smart Start. This unit is made for combined use with Eberspächer or Webasto Thermo Top C and E, not the V version used in Disco3. It also has feedback on the remote confirming activation. But as I also have the BAS FBH controller, I was wandering if I could take the feed from Defa Smart Start (I understand this is an analogue signal) to the BAS gsm input? Any advice appreciated.

I just got the reply from the Defa manufacturer.
The output led to the fuel burning heater gives a continous signal of +12V for as long as it is set to burn (automatic start at preset intervals 15-60 minutes before pick-up time depending on outdoor temperature).
Will the BAS unit cope with a continous +12V signal?
Alternatively: is there any way of fitting av gate opener or other device that will give a brief +12V signal upon start of this continous +12V signal?
This will be of great help for me as I have to drive around to find a parking spot, often not within view from work, and I don't always know what time I can leave before end of day. The Defa controller has timer and a 1,2 km range for instant start plus the advantage of conformation on remote that system is active. 1951 Series One 80" 1600cc Deep Bronze Green

Hi
Please speak with glen. I have advised him last week of the action that may be needed.
The FBHIC is designed to receive a momentry GND to SW1 on the pcb for activation via external sources as per the pdf on myweb site, your 12v will need some control and polarity changes.
http://bellautoservices.co.uk/wp-content/u...etails.pdf
Please DO NOT give the FBHIC ANY 12v feed for control you will damage it.

Thank you, Pete.
I misunderstood and thought I could have a relay giving momentary 12 V - now understand it is momenatary GND! I will speak to Glen. 1951 Series One 80" 1600cc Deep Bronze Green
