A-Bar fitment (and driving light question!)

Right, now i have my D3 (will put some pictures up when i have a moment - the poor girl doesn't know whats hit it been working hard and done nearly 3k in 2 weeks mostly with a trailer and/or digger on the back!)

Anyways, i am after an A-bar, but are these difficult to fit? Do the winch compatible ones look ok with no winch fitted (although when money allows i will get a winch) and also i have seen somewhere something about the front parking sensors but not sure if this is applicable to the winch a bar?

Also, with the driving lights, im fine wiring them up but on the proper "fitting kit" does this include an LR switch of some sort or are they just on with the main beam? As i would have them switched as well as on main beam but not too certain where i would put the switch for it as i don't think they are any blanks on the dash! any ideas welcome!

the A-bar does take front sensors. Mine had holes cut for them.

The spot light kit does come with a switch for the dash as they are already pre-wired BUT you have to get them enabled in the vehicle software, Wiggs could do it.

thanks for the quick reply pom,

whereabouts does the switch go though? so all the light wiring is there for the driving lights just have to enable the software? well once i get hold of my a bar and lights and fit it all will have to get hold of Wiggs!

Oh and the sensors, apparently there are some sort of extension for the them so that you fit them in the a bar, is that right??

You will also need BY LAW to ensure the Driving lights are on a seperate switch if you wire yourself. They now check this on the MOT

Check out pictures 46-64 of the driving light fitting instructions from here - http://www.ownerinfo.landrover.com/extfree2viewlrprod/index.jsp

Front parking sensors already have extended cabling fitted - which means you just need to snip the cable tie when installing and fit the sensors through the a-bar holes.
If you do install a winch be careful of the front parking sensors though!

Oh, and don't forget 10forcash - http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/member179.html
who can either do this for you, or enable the feature using his box of tricks.
Might be easier to get hold of than Wiggs, but I do say might.

if you have a winch then the front sensors need to be disabled

Here is where I fitted a switch to do the job, would look OEM if it had the correct legend on it.

Anyone have a suggestion of a warning / indicator so you don't leave the lamps on by accident. I can see me doing it at some point Rolling Eyes .

Yes, you can get the same ROCKER SWITCH like yours with ANY COLOUR LED, mine is Green......

In the Xmas Snows I forgot to turn mine off on High Beam, and the Driving lights were covered, and it melted the guards and cracked the lenses. Big Cry

The thing is I wanted a on-off-on switch so I can select the lamps to come on on their own, off altogether or on with the main beams. I couldn't find a small switch with a lamp that would do that. I can of course just fit an LED to acheive the same as your idea - but is the LED eye catching enough?
