Phat face, I didn't realise that the flag in your profile was a Swiss Flag. I thought it was the George Cross.
Being is a good way of avoiding a ban.
Martin I do know why Neil has had his ban extended, but he has apologised and tried to call you to discuss the situation when you put the phone down on him as soon as you realised who it was. I just don't know what more you expect from him, he's said sorry, do you want him to beg and grovel? What more do you need? How is he meant to prove that the same situation won't occur again if you don't let him back on the site.
Anyone would think he'd murdered someone, the last time I looked this was an internet forum about cars.
To not even give Neil a date when his ban will be lifted is tauting and verging on bullying something which is against your own site rules.
As for Gary, No I don't know why he is still banned.D3 HSE MY05 Auto

Stu you know why, it would seem that all you're trying to do is stir things up, again
If the ban was lifted then things would be back to normal and there would be nothing to stir. I don't think I've said anything that hasn't been a fact.
Putting the phone down on someone is a very rude thing to do, especially when they've had the courage to say sorry and try to move things forward and resolve them in an adult manner. I just don't know what more you want / expect.
Could this have anything to do with money? Amazing how Neil and Gary both got banned as soon as they decided to Stop GNVP and stop site sponsorship. Maybe I'm just getting cynical?D3 HSE MY05 Auto

Bodsy, unlike you to wheel out the pop corn cat. It's often Al wheeling it out for threads that you're involved with!
I just don't know what is expected.
If someone says sorry what more can they do?
I don't know why things can't go back to normal and we could all get on with things. I think I've got PMT!D3 HSE MY05 Auto

Stu, you cynical man! I can't believe that there would be any link between the two whatsoever......
I can understand why Neil was banned, it seems to have been well documented etc, but was it GNVP proprietors that were banned or did Gary do something more sinister that we mere mortals didn't see?
From what I can see, it seems a real shame that at the point that an enthusiasm built up in the south for events and someone willing to organise them (not saying that others haven't in the past) that it all comes to this.
Maybe some pride needs to be swallowed on both parties and we can start up again.
It seems that there's a good 30ish people on this sign-up alone that wants this event to go ahead (and others like it I'm sure). The OP should get the recognition and the re-instatement to be able to continue to organise this non Disco3, disco3 event (or whatever it should be classed as). If it goes back to previous issues, then they of course need to be dealt with by all concerned, but this is 2010, people are dying everyday in wars and on our streets, the Government is in a shambles & is unlikely to relieve the debt in our lifetime, i've got a dnet in my car that I haven't had repaired for two years. Come on all This forum is a bit of release for many and is a great source of entertainment.
Kiss eachother (on the lips, with tongues) and let's get these events continuing. I have a feeling that 2010 could be one of the best event years ever!
(All IMHO of course and I'm sure I'll be told that it's none of my business in due course... but come on, let's have an Amnesty or something and move on with everyone's participation.......)
It is a great shame if we can't all have a group hug & get back to sharing real life experiences.Bodsys Brake Bible

The bans for NeilD and bigcarpchaser were applied due to repeatedly breaking the site behaviour rules and terms of use. They were not alone in receiving restrictions on their accounts as there were two sides to what they were involved in a few weeks ago.
NeilD had previously received a warning in November about his conduct, and was told that any further similar messages would result in a ban. I chose not to apply this in the first instance, but when it was clear that the action which had been taken - removal of the use of the PM system - was not being taken seriously by either party I had no option but to apply a two week ban.
During the period of their ban both NeilD and bigcarpchaser proceeded to register on the site with alternative usernames, hiding their identities using free e-mail addresses and proxy servers so they could not be traced by myself or the moderators. They then posted using these alternative usernames, in an apparently light hearted manner similar to previous aliases which have been used by other people on the site in the past.
NeilD, under his alias name, then proceeded to use the PM system to promote the products of GNVP on at least one occasion that has been brought to my attention. For those who were not aware, GNVP had withdrawn their site sponsorship, and so this PM broke the commercial posting rules.
The use of aliases was not, as has been incorrectly stated, the reason for the bans being extended. The bans were extended because of undermining the site's processes and procedures for dealing with those who repeatedly break the rules. NeilD and bigcarpchaser determined that it was suitable for them to cloak themselves from site admin and moderators and re-register when banned from the site. In addition NeilD then proceeded to also use the PM system for commercial promotion when not a site sponsor, and when already banned.
There has been a expectation from NeilD, bigcarpchaser and a small number of their vocal supporters that these actions by NeilD and bigcarpchaser to circumvent their bans and continue posting and PMing should be forgotten and forgiven by me, and the two of them welcomed back to the site as if the ban had been served with good grace. This was not the case, as the statements above show.
Although both parties have admitted to their actions whilst banned, to immediately move on from this situation would set a very dangerous precedent whereby any future site bans would no longer hold any penalty as NeilD and bigcarpchaser would have shown it was allowable to work around them and continue to use the site.
Opportunities had been given to both on many occasions to prevent them receiving bans, and to prevent them receiving ban extensions, but these were ignored on all those occasions.
For these reason, their bans have been extended. I have not set expiration dates for these bans as I have to take this undermining of the site by two banned members extremely seriously. Therefore the bans will run until I am satisfied that the original bans have been complied with fully and both parties to have understood why the bans were applied in the first place, and that their conduct whilst under those bans was unacceptable.
I made it very clear to NeilD that I did not wish to be telephoned about this matter, instead to use e-mail so that reasoned responses could be made by both sides, but he persisted in calling me against my wishes.
The initial banning of NeilD and bigcarpchaser is not linked to the withdrawal of GNVP's sponsorship of the site as is being suggested, as stated above, this was for repeatedly breaking site behaviour rules - site sponsors are not exempt from complying with these. It is however a contributory factor to the extension of the bans since one or more PMs were sent by NeilD promoting GNVPs products whilst he was banned from the site, and GNVP were no longer a sponsor.
That the banning of NeilD is affecting this event is unfortunate, I offered to relay messages to those signed up when required, and as stated earlier to help carry the event forward during this current period, but both offers have been ignored by NeilD.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

would that be the same level of help that we received for the LRO show? We had no help from you with the LRO show and maybe this is the reason Neil hasn't accepted your offer. Maybe it would be better that someone who will actually answer the phone to Neil takes the event on. If you're not prepared to take a call from him how can you expect to communicate with him over an event that requires quite a bit of communication.
I can't believe you're making such a big issue out of this. It's an internet forum. All you're doing is acting like a unilateral bully. Surely enough is enough and it’s time to grow up and move on?
Is the ban in place to punish people so that they learn a lesson or is it there to make you feel important? If it is there so that Neil and Gary change their actions, then IMVHO I think the ban has served it's purpose. I think if you lifted the ban you'd find things got back to normal, but you don't want to do that as you want to keep punishing.D3 HSE MY05 Auto

Stu, I don't know about everyone else, but I am growing very tired of this. Neil and Gary have done something wrong, Martin has dealt out a punishment, let them serve out their penance and then when Martin is satisfied lets get back to normal. If Martin does not want to verbally speak to Neil, so be it, email is a very able medium.
I don't think there is any bullying going on and for you to say that is bang out of order. The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us yet.

Stu, are you not reading the rest of my post? Do you genuinely believe that NeilD and bigcarpchaser acted appropriately in the circumstances, and that they have understood the reason for their ban and complied with it?
I explained why I did not wish to be telephoned, and in any case, as I said, my offers were ignored.
I made many mistakes regarding the LRO show, for many reasons, I admit it and I have learnt from it, but who cannot move on now?
I've made it very clear why I have taken the actions I have. As you are NeilD's good friend I do not expect you to agree with me, but you should understand why such action has been taken. To call me a bully is completely missing the point, I suggest you read my post again thoroughly.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
