Back in a Discovery
Hi everyone, some may recognise my username from other forums that previously owned D2's and have moved up to 3 or 4's.
Here is the extensively modified D2 shortly before a house purchase forced its sale.
It was soon replaced with an FL2 for my wife to drive and I missed some form of green oval on the drive.
We keep the FL2 for a while until it became apparent that the boot was not big enough for all our new son's clobber and we departed from LR's for a while back into an Audi estate.
Fast forward a couple of years and now with a caravan to tow we were using a VW Touareg. Now with another baby and all it's 'accessories' to carry we were running out of boot space again. My wife has always loved the look of D4's so we started the search.
The budget was upped multiple times to find the right car. We eventually found a lovely Coris Grey, 2012 HSE 8 speed car with full history and 95k miles. Perfect, or so we thought. I collected it a week later from an independent dealer in Poole and drove it home. Halfway home 'Restricted Performance'....bother!
After a lot of communication with the dealer, it was diagnosed as a cracked inlet manifold and collected by them for inspection (the dealer is over 150 miles away). The dealer called the next day and offered a full refund. I requested the car to be repaired as I had travelled nearly 1000 miles over the last month trying to find the right car. They refused. After days of arguing I backed down and accepted the refund.
The hunt is now on for a replacement.
Having upped the budget to find the above car we reset the budget back down to a more sensible amount (it is a second car for my wife to drive and tow the caravan).
I found a nice 2010 HSE more local to home and made the purchase.
Here starts it's ownership story!

Now it's home it's time to start sorting all the little things that need doing.
First off I noticed that the wiper arm spindle covers were missing.
Time to go get some parts...
Looks better now but it makes to wiper arms and scuttle look very grey....that will have to be the next thing to look at!

Blast from the past! I had the same colour green Adventurer spec D2 and then a silver SE. I remember you from the D2 forum. Welcome aboard! Nice D4 D4 XS, gone, much loved, never forgotten

First Tow with the D4.
"Built for it".
Think I need to come down a set of holes on the hitch to level out the caravan.

Hi John, congratulations on the family increase!! It seems years ago when we all met up with the D2s! I just ‘lurk’ on here occasionally after selling my D3 and going down the Swedish route.......not as ‘exciting’ to drive as the D2 or 3, but on the plus side, I have just returned from an 800 mile round trip to Cumbria without a warning bong
Take care.
DaveBest Regards,
Dave.
