Aux input

I have ordered an aux kit for my base radio from the very helpful Nick at Yeovil LR. It connects to the green multi-pin aux plug at the rear of the centre console. I want to connect an Ipod to the 3.5mm jack. My question is, whether you can simply plug in the Ipod press the radiohead aux button and go.

Yes you just plug in the ipod and select Aux on the stereo and away you go, not as loud as a normal cd though so turn your ipod up full.

If you take the sound out of the headphone socket on the ipod its quite quiet.

If you get a lead that plugs in the bottom of the ipod (30 pin plug) then goes to a headphone socket ..the sound is much better ....only a couple quid on ebay

Like this

got mine from here

Did a bit of rummaging about behind the console last week looking for the elusive green plug but alas no luck.
My rummaging only entailed removing the plastic blanking plate though , should I have been a bit more thorough ?

Is there a cable that also supplies power to the ipod to keep is charged or do you need a special kit?

LR does a spiecal kit if you want for your IPod. You can find them on eBay for about £146.

Mine had two green multi plugs in the back of the console but these apparently are for the rear heated seats, there wasn't one for the aux socket

Should do - any iPod with the circular controls (i.e. not the four buttons below the screen) will work with the integration kit

Australia 2008 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Stornoway GreyDiscovery 3

the guys who installed mine simply ran the cable through to the cubby box. Just looks like an ipod cable, plugs into the bottom of the ipod and keeps things all charged............I dont imagine there is much to it?

Someone on here had their window bashed a couple of weeks ago in an ipod theft, so the centre console option might be one to consider. I have a black ipod with a black cover and with the tinted windows it is pretty hard to see.
Picked up my new MY08 Stornaway TDV6 SE late Feb. FULLY STOKED! Thanks in advance for all the advice/tips you guys have shared on here!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a little confused. I have two green and one orange multi-pin (6 wires in each) female connectors behind the panel at the rear of the cubby box. I thought that the green connectors were the auxilliary feeds but now it seems that they be for the heated seats. I believe the orange one is for a 12v power socket.

Can anyone confirm.
