Automatic transmission fluid change. |
|
ZF say that the Disco 3 and 4 boxes need a change in transmission fluid at 60 000km. Landrover say you don't need to do this
ZF say that the transmission fluid viscosity changes after 70 000km and the clutches in the box start to wear. The box then fails at about 120 000km
This sounds very strange as many people on this forum have done massive mileage without gearbox clutch issues.
Note, this is a totally separate issue from coolant getting into the ATF and causing issues.
Any comments? I have a D4 on 30 000km. I am planning on changing the ATF at 60 000kmeven if LR say I don't need to.

I propose to do the same as I consider gearbox oil is cheap compared to the cost of a gearbox failure due to the breakdown of the oil properties.
I took delivery in March 12 and have so far done 34,000km so I can see this happening sooner rather than later. Fuji White D4 2012. Reversing camera, E-diff, Hi-line sound, Xenon lights, ARB bullbar with Lightforce xenon lights and cargo barrier

We have a similar mileage and both have Fuji white HSE's
BTW, how's the ARB bar on the 4? Do you retain full function of PDC and cameras?

Mine is an SE so I do not have the camera or PDS,
The bull bar proved its worth the other day when a roo committed suicide; car 1 roo 0.
It is the most comfortable car to travel long distances in hence the high mileage
