This may have been answered else where but couldn't find anything...
Is it possible to adjust (via software update/through dealer) the sensitivity of the auto lights. And the auto wipers, for that matter.
Basically, i find the auto lights are not sensitive enough (i.e. for tunnels they come on when I am too far into them); and the wipers seem to work with the slightest drop of water. Adjusting the sensitivity on the wiper arm doesn't seem to make any difference either.
Our other car (a Ford) has the same functions and the sensitivity is about right. Same for my previous car.
It's never going to be perfect as there are many contributing factors - but I must admit the LR set up is bugging me a bit...
Thanks.

I dont use the auto-lights, but as its not stopped raining in the UK for the last few weeks the auto-wipe has been driving me nuts. There are 4 settings but the slowest is far to fast, in anything more than a few drops it goes straight into constant. I gave the whole screen a clean with some autoglym fast glass to remove the summer bugs and it is behaving better now, but its still way to fast.
I wonder if its a design feature, or a "not get sued driver can't see" setting? Disco3 is now gone but not forgotten. Waiting for Disco6 with full aluminium construction weight reduction and hybrid engine...

Same here for the auto lights, JF. I get a quarter way through the Howald tunnel before they come on. One to live with, I think.

My auto wipers have been spot on, and I HATE wipers on too fast or even on unnecessarily. They do sometimes take a while to kick in if you start the car when its raining and there is a lot of water on the screen 2007 TDV6 XS Silver

discoagoago - its interesting yours are good, I think I might get the glass polish out at the weekend and "service" the area over the rain sensor to see if that helps.
to add insult to injury I splashed through a HUGE standing puddle I did not see (it was raining hard) and for a second or two I could not see anything and the normally OTT wiper sensor was quite happy with that... I think its just trying to kill me or drive me insane on reflection... Disco3 is now gone but not forgotten. Waiting for Disco6 with full aluminium construction weight reduction and hybrid engine...

The Auto lights sensors ( 8 in 2 rows ) are in the small "window" at the front of the interior mirror
assembly. Paint out with black nail varnish, an appropriate area.....test with black sticky tape first to
adjust sensitivity...... it does work on a GM Statesman...for tunnels & carparks with borderline light.
The wiper 'sweeps" over this area,so sticking tape on the screen wont last too long in wet climates.
For me , the D3 doesn't need them here.
Don't try sliding card between the glass and the unit....... it will possibly dislodge .
As for the wiper problem ..... they suck !

I use the light switch and trust my own judgement on whether I need my lights on.
Auto anything is never right.
As for the wipers, mine clear the screen when going though a big splashy puddle before I could even react and flick the wipers myself. They are a bit 'random' in their operation, but if turn off the wipers (from auto) and then back on again, the sensitivity setting seems to stick. Although there is not that much change.
Seems the wipers setting dial is only really effective on setting the speed of the rear intermittent wiper.

I recommend you go for suppositories only 8)
Usually I just use the magic of my fingers to either turn the wipers \ lights on or off ...or if I'm feeling random in an unadulterated way ...I leave them on auto 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
