Autel maxiDiag elite MD802 ( arrived )now used
Thinking of one of these as can be used on most makes and models of vehicles , any one got one ??
Now got the 802 as recommended

Don't have that model but I've got the Autel MaxiDiag MD802 All System Elite and it's quite a good bit of kit and a lot cheaper. Works OK on the D4 but I've also got the Gap IID specifically for that vehicle.
Used it on a few other makes for various things and it works well. I spent the last 20 or so years working on dealer diagnostic tool development for a major motor manufacturer and the Autel isn't that far behind kit costing hugely more money. Won't do key programming though.

Ok got it yesterday looks and feels sturdy
I chose this tool so I use it on my other vehicles also will make a play at the weekend if I get the chance -------------------------------------------------

In regard to the last 2 posts. No, it won't. It does not have the number of dedicated service functions that the GAP IID tool has. It will however allow you to read and clear DTCs, view PIDs/DIDs, read live data and it includes some reset type functions (turn off service indicator ,etc) Also has EPB functions. What you have to remember it is a generic type tool not a dedicated LR tool, but it covers a very wide range of vehicles (which is why I bought one). The GAP tool is still the best option for LR but it comes at a cost...
As with any diagnostic tool it will give you a good starting point for fault finding but needs to be used in conjunction with other tools e.g. wiring schematics and, most importantly, a good working knowledge and understanding of the system in question.
