Australian adventure
Just got back after 6 weeks in Australia, 3 of which were spent in a campervan.
Being caravaners we had to be careful not to be too critical of the campervan, but at the end of the day it did what we wanted, full days travelling with one night stops.
We met some very interesting characters and some quite amazing 'rigs'. If you thought that you were equipped for wild camping, well these Aussies are in a different stratosphere!!
I had to visit a caravan dealer so that I could have a good look at what is on offer and I have uploaded a couple of videos.
You will see by the weights that there is absolutely no comparison between their vans and ours and even though we went in quite a few vans it would be difficult to say whether I would prefer theirs over ours. The build quality seems to be better than ours, more robust, but then that is required as their roads leave a lot to be desired. Definitely worse than ours!
Discoveries were definitely in the minority, didn't see many at all until around Sydney. Toyota has certainly captured the market with various variants of the Landcruiser.
If they paid what we do for petrol I would suggest that there vans and tow cars would be a bit different, but with petrol around 80p a litre they can certainly afford to tow 3t with 4.5 litre vehicles!

Thoroughly enjoyed Tasmania.
Found the drive from Adelaide to Broken Hill interesting.
Broken hill, Mildura, Murray Bridge, enjoyable drive though changing scenery (dry to green).
Great Ocean road (12 apostles etc), well worth it but could have been in China.
Sydney, wet, but managed to see the Lights for Christmas at St Marys, (opening night I think last Tuesday) in the dry.

Stand next to that wheel love.
What for?
So I can show the lads back home how big they are.
Looks spot on. What did you tow it with.

David, plenty more to see next time we're going back to Tassie again in Feb and over to WA in July. It's a big country.
