AT2 - first impressions
Got a set of 255/60x18 AT2 fitted today.
Fitted at Nene Valley during my lunch break (well, actully en-route between two meetings...).
First impression, only on the tarmac (unless you count the bit of grass verge I used to get into a carpark) are that they give a tidly bit of road noise, not even 1 more notch on the radio volume, are less prone to tramlining and quite tame when attacking damp roundabouts at speed
I've not done enough miles yet to see if anything has happend to the economy, time will tell.
Baseline tyre were LastYear Wriglers of the same size, but down to <4mm, with same size right foot.Rob Smith
Silver rools OK
On our second set of the AT2 and am very pleased on and off road, compare favourably with the BFG AT I used on the old D1 300Tdi, except that I think they wear a little quicker than the BFGsLRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.
Only downside I've found is the MPG is about 3 down on AT2s versus Scorpions and you can't drive it like you stole it. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

was on the phone today getting prices for the very same....... been reading & reading and just gotta do it... soon.
bit too early to mention it to SWMBO..... need to get through going to the England/Wales game this w/e and getting home....... eventually
will maybe drop it in next week - depends on if we wake up in Banbury again (50 miles away) after we all fell asleep on the last train out of town!!
ps. can we keep it quiet that the mpg takes a hit..... Denial - best policy!2007 TDV6SE Auto Stornoway Grey - now sold...

Your SWMBO knows about the mpg
I've got MTR's and an expo rack with spots and all shes says is "it does look kind of cool" and "with those MTR's on i can hear you coming down the road" - which is how i like it

its gets worse than that - she suggests that I leave the D3 at home & take her kiddie wagon into work - so we save on fuel costs & she gets to drive the D3.
nice try - but not bloody likely!!2007 TDV6SE Auto Stornoway Grey - now sold...
I'm on my first set at about 6K miles and very very pleased. Economy has dropped by 2-3mpg and they are a little nosier but stacks more grip in the mud.
Incidently, what tyre pressures should I have on the AT2s? Same as normal road tyres? I should really check them soon. The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us yet.

I don't really notice any difference in mpg between AT2's & 19" Wrangler HP's, and not a great difference in handling either. In fact I tend to prefer the AT2's
I find it a right pain forcing myself to swap back to the 19's, but if I don't I'll never wear them out & therefore never get my MT/R's Long succession of Disco's since 2001...

What mileage did you get with the first set?

Hmm.. I had just about convinced myself I needed some AT2s over a new set of Scorpions... Not sure I can stand a further 3 mpg drop - I struggle to keep it much above 20 as it is.

Speak to 10forcash for a TorqTune then - instant 2-3 mpg increase
then you can get the AT2's and be no better/no worse off

Perhaps removing the lead from the right foot then
With MTR's and rack and spots i get approx 20mpg, but with a TorqTune, a mix of motorway driving (400 miles a week) and 100 round town and i don't hang around on the way to work

Agree with the above comments - 3 - 4 mpg worse off with the AT2's compared to the previous Duellers. I have not noticed any problems in the rain but very pleased when off road - significantly better in the sticky stuff.

As I have read that some of you have been using some Scorpion and AT2, what is the difference of mileage between those 2 sets?
ThanksArno
