ARRGGHH -Still not got our D3 back :( **UPDATED** She's Back
Just been off on what ended up a wild goose chase to Salisbury and back to pick up the D3 from the bodyshop - at least, that's what we were supposed to be doing. We'd chosen Westover Accident Repair Centre Salisbury, as we'd asked Westover LR who informed us that that's who they use for body repairs.
Apparenty, the D3 was ready, but the AFS light was on (all fine when it went in). Suspecting first, that they'd fitted a non-adaptive unit, or that the headlight connector pins had been pushed back etc., we set off to collect the car, since they've had it for two weeks today, we desperately need it back now, and the MOT has expired since it was there (was booked in for tomorrow).
Imagine how frustrating it is to arrive to find the new headlight unit is blatently faulty, as it's stuck all the way to the side. Clearly, they new this, as a chap from the workshop came over shortly and took it back to sort out, yet they have it in their heads that it's the SAS, due to the work done before it went in there - hence considering it ready to be collected. It's obvious to me that it's not the SAS, as there's no transmission/ABS/EAS fault showing (from what they said) and the work was done by Steve Norman. Funnily enough, this light had a white "OK" hand written on it.
Shortly afterwards, they bring the car back round, stating that they'd moved the light to the straight ahead position. Clearly I was not acepting this, and I pointed out that the light would likely get stuck again on startup, as they self test.
So now they can't let us have the car back, and are going to get Westover LR to look at the fault. We offered to "check" the SAS with the IID, but clearly they wen't letting us near the keys...
We then thought it best to head over to LR, to inform them of the issue (from our perspective ) and get them on their backs (the bodyshop have been saying the car would be ready soon, for days, but then, "oh no, it's not quite done"), plus to make it clear that they weren't to go removing the remap and COD etc. They're a good bunch there, so I'm happy that they'll sort it out, but it's clear to me what's wrong.
The biggest issue is that they keep telling us it'll be ready, but then it never is...
Must now have been without the car for nearly a month overall.
Will update the thread as things progress and more details once it's sorted. I do want to make it clear, however, that it's not the LR dealership that's the issue - they're a good dealer (if you have ££).

Look on the bright side with the Alto, think of fuel costs you're saving.
Yep, that's one benefit. Got to try and sort something out to get to Gatcome Horse Trials on Saturday though (can't turn up there without a LR ), as the Alto really isn't suitable (old 54 plate, not a new type - done about half the mileage of the D3, but is pretty tired). I'd kick-off if they wouldn't let me have the keys for my own vehicle. Madness.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948
Treading very carefully as we chose not to go with one of the insurers approved repairers, so don't want to have a bill shoved our way for any extra costs. Clearly, once we'd left something happened and they accpeted the issue and ordered a new light unit. I can't fully forgive them for trying to fob us off, but they've done the right thing now and it's all sorted. Obviously gave them a bit of a scare by knowing a thing or two when it comes to a D3!

After a long time away here and there, our D3 is finally home and fully fixed!
Seems like an absolute age without it (just under a month now). Sadly we can't drive it anywhere yet, as the MOT has expired and it needs taxing. Will get the MOT done on Monday. Should be only two potential issues; the airbag light (seatbelt pretensioner wire) and the de-cat. I should be able to shut the former off easily, as long as the seat isn't then moved, so I'll pull the fuse...
Frankly, I can't wait until the new bumper/grille etc. get a few marks on them, as the flies are enough to drive one mad on fresh paint.

To start with it was a new torque converter, then a 2nd set of cam/pump belts with oil and water pumps, rear HVAC pipes, RRS rear upper arms, turbo actuator rod and other stuff was added.
Not long before this was due to be done, a large deer decided to jump a fence (was hidden behind some cows) straight in front of the car as SWMBO was driving. She swerved (the right choice IMO, as a fatally-injured deer, screaming away, is not a nice thing to have to deal with...) and ended up hitting a small tree/bush/hedge.
It went in for it's other repairs as planned and, once the body was off, it became apparent that the turbo was screwed, so a new turbo was thrown in too.
Body repairs then consisted of a new wheel arch and liner, mud flap and plastic moulding, wing, bonnet, grille, bumper, light unit (adaptive so about £1k each ), B pillar trims, two parking sensors and washer bottle, plus a partial re-spray of both left hand doors.
In total, it's now had over £10k spent on it in the last month ( ). Naturally, the body repairs have been paid for by the insurance company.
Still much to be done...

A large chunk of that was the initial stuff paid for ourselves, so there was a fair way to go before that. Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC
