Arms replacement - likely from AF, which ones to buy |
|
Hi,
I will have to change bushings on rear arms to pass our MOT equivalent.
Work is expensive => arms exchange will likely be cheaper.
Then, front ones are not great either, so maybe it's better to do all.
Outcome? LR asks EUR 3700 for parts. Half of D3 value
So I started to search myself and there are much better priced kits on Advanced Factors site.
But I have no idea which ones are good enough (for normal use - no heavy offroad).
Can you advice, pls?
Front upper 3rd party (for 99) or genuine or polyurethane for twice that?
Front lower polyurethane, terrafirma poly, "Optimal" (quite cheaper). other kits?
...
Is it OK / safe to buy the lower priced non-genuine kits?
I expect to keep the car for few more years, till engine goes.
thnks!

I would skip the poly kits since they make the rider harder but it’s also a matter of taste. Some people have had arms break due to polybushes, too....
If I would today need the full set from AF I’d most likely choose the following:
Front lower, KIT630
Front upper, KIT619
Rear lower, KIT616
Rear upper, KIT615HD
If you need to replace ARB bushes, too:
Front, doesn’t seem like a kit exists but Meyle/genuine ARB bushes and Meyle drop-links
Rear, KIT606
You’ll have plenty of money left compared to donating 3700 EUR to your JLR official dealer......

Fitted kit630 and kit619 to mine 3 weeks ago and no issues although you DO feel a lot more feedback from the road with the kit630 lower arms. I would dread to think how poly arms feel.

Is there a full description (list of included LR part numbers) for those AF kits anywhere?
I have hard time matching the list of required parts I received from the workshop with the A-arm kits, especially when it comes to small items like nuts, ...
I plan to buy:
Front upper: KIT619
Front lower: KIT630
Rear upper: KIT615HD and KIT606
Rear lower: KIT616

When looking on the AF web site, if you look at Kit 619 you can see it includes , upper arm fixings which are in Kit 664 . If you click on 664 it comes up with the part numbers of the fixings in the kit .You can do this with other arms as well.
