Has anyone tried an 'aftermarket' clock spring? |
|
Given the steep price of the genuine clock spring, I was wondering if anyone has had any success with an aftermarket one? 2007 Land Rover LR3 4.0L V6

I had one fitted, a lot cheaper, £140ish I think. Worked great for 9 months, then gradually failed. Hit my money back, and bought a second hand one from Kent 4x4 breakers for £39 and fitted it myself. Perfect so far, and a lot cheaper. ( 6 months use so far).

My £50 ebay heated clockspring failed after a month got my money back and purchased a genuine heated one at half the retail price from Maltings off road who purchased a pallet load from JLR, they are unboxed but do have all correct labels and logos. They are good for all D3 D4 and RRS vehicles. They also have them on ebay for £120. Been working perfectly for months now. IID Tool

Mine lasted 18 months or so and never really worked properly. It finally gave up in January this year so I got a genuine one from a fellow forum member and all is good The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;

Thanks everyone.
There's a company down here in Australia who just sell clock springs, for pretty much every brand of car. They have one for AUD$130 incl delivery, with 12 mths warranty, so I think I might give them a go. At least it's a local return if it fails. 2007 Land Rover LR3 4.0L V6
