I tow a caravan and remove/replace the electrics cover about 30 times a year. I got a bit cheesed off with the original design but failed to find the sort of fasteners shown above so I went down a different route. I removed both clips and turnbuckles. I turned down and filed to fit 4 bolts to replace the clips and turnbuckles and put a small rare earth magnet between each pair of turned/filed down bolt heads. So the cover is held in place by 2 magnets, I have been using this system for a couple of years now without any problem.

Fitted on my 2013 Robbie They were a bit stiff to turn, but a bit of Vaseline sorted that out. I'm working away this week, and swmbo has the car, so can't take a picture, but as far as I remember they were not interfering with the edges of the recess.

Agree with Gareth, first few times was a little stiff but loosened up after a few goes. Didn't think of lube!
