Has anyone measured the decibel levels in their D3?

I ask as I found my old meter in my toolbox the other day, slipped a 9v battery in (remember them!) and tried it out in the car.
70mph on cruise 65 decibels, now I thought that was quite good?

Boat @ 1800rpm 7 knots, 72 dbs in the cabin

Snap on 1/2 air impact no silencer 110dbs @ 1 mtr!

I haven't measured but I remember reading a spec website, possibly an American one, that listed the dB rating of different cars at various speeds and I recall the D3 being in 60s and notably lower than most others. Passengers often comment how quiet and smooth it is. What tyres are you on just out of curiosity? I want to make sure when I change mine it doesn't disturb the serenity.

I used a phone app sound level meter, to see if there was any difference when I did the under-bonnet sound proofing. It was about 1 dB better with the insulation!

Pirelli ATR 255/19, had zeros before, and Iirc both thave same noise rating?

Whole car totally standard, apart from new engine cover noise insulation as mentioned by rrhool above.

My D4 commercial seems quieter than my D3 but i think thats due to the Duratec tyres

Does anybody have the details of these engine noise insulation kits?

Its is just self adhesive sound matting from ebay

There is a decent thread on here somewhere, Iirc there is enough to do inside the engine cover and under the bonnet skin, so you have two layers of sound deadening on the bonnet.

Like this, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Car-Sound-Insul...SwjQlgZsRY

One thread, few more as well
