Anyone know how to stop a fox eating our car!
Father lives in Bromley Kent where there are a large number of urban foxes. In his street a number of neighbours have reported damage to paintwork, and damage underneath. Some months ago I had to replace the front abs sensor lead on his Freelander 2 which had been chewed in half…
Today, he complained again that his ABS and HDC warning lights were on again.. popped over and the rear nearside ABS sensor was now also chewed through…
His offside exhaust mounting was also partially destroyed! Covered the first lead in copper grease but any thoughts how we can deter this pesky critters?
Apologies for the first photo showing rear abs sensor lead..

Ultimately you need to prevent the foxes from getting underneath the vehicle. Easier said than done, especially if you park on the road.
Driving around London suburbs, I’ve twice seen what appeared to be a barrier made of interlocking panels, presumably plastic, which formed a close fitting “skirt” around the perimeter of the car. I assume that they concertina up and can be stored in the boot and that there purpose was to prevent foxes.
I couldn’t find such a thing on a quick google search, but the use of plastic spiked mats placed under the vehicle did come up. Search for cat spike mat.
Another alternative would be to lay a section of netting or permeable material on the ground, park on it and then draw it up over the sill line using elastic straps. Quite a palaver though!
Otherwise I guess you’ll just have to coat every vulnerable part in something that foxes don’t like the taste off.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Park near me, the foxes here are too busy digging up my back garden to bother with cars!

His next door neighbour has exactly that after her paintwork was scratched to hell.. she has a vehicle nappy of sorts that she drives on which then pulls up around the car…
My dad is 90 (and still drives ) but physically he couldn’t do that… he also doesn’t have a driveway to enable such…
Think I am just going to have to coat the plastic and rubber lines in copper grease or some such…
Was shocked at the state of the exhaust mount though!

Interesting on the ultrasonic device… that would work if he switched it on when leaving the car..
Thanks for posting! I have a similar device to protect our Horsebox from mice and rats but they are plug in types using mains electricity…

Unfortunately one of the very best things to deter foxes is Male Human Urine.
But not sure it's appropriate to spread about in this case. Heaven doesn't want me, and hell is afraid I'll take over.

Excellent! With my fathers incontinence issues! I now have a plan! Tying used Tena pants to the underside! Perfect! I’ll let you know how i get on! Pity the next owner of the car!
