Anyone ever heard of a "clock spring"-Airbagfault |
|
Our Airbag warning light keeps coming on intermitantantly, the one in the dash. Been to the stealers several times, last but one time had the Rotary Coupling replaced, but fault came back next day. Went back in and they said they'd traced it back to a fault with the "Clock Spring" At the look on my face the explained it was some sort of switch in the circuit, but they didn't replace it at the time, just reset all the fault codes and told me to contact them if it comes back in which case they'd get a replacement in. You can guess what happen two days later... Yup, bong and the red warning light was back
Anyhow, I've never heard of a "clock spring" other than being in the back of a clock so thought I'd ask if anyone has heard of an Airbag Clock Spring thingy before; or is it just another dealer fob-off? LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

Not exactly sure what they are or do, but I had mine replaced.
I found that the steering wheel stereo controls weren't doing as they should.
eg. to change volume, it was changing radio station.
Sorry if not of great help - but they do exist! I was a normal heterosexual chap, but in these new woke awakenings I now identify as a Wardrobe.

So the rumour is true... we are driving around in wind-up toys - well that's the only other use for a Clock Spring that I came up with.
Cheers RonP, that's all I wanted to know - they are real LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

Usually the 'clock spring' is the pet name for the roatry coupler, which allows the wiring connections to wind/unwind with the steering wheel, because it looks like a clock spring!
