Anyone ever dismantled their tow bar (locking mechanism)
Hi
New to me D4 has arrived (D3 for sale soon) and I’m tidying up the (fixed Brinks) tow bar by getting it powdercoated - it’s the only thing that doesn’t look spot on with the car!
However, the locking mechanism part (with plastics) obviously can’t go in the oven. Anyone know if these can be easily dismantled? Can’t see anything in searches
Can obviously just clean up and paint that part but that’s what previous owner did with the whole assembly, bolts and all and the paint hasn’t held so well in places. Just makes the painted and unpainted areas look more different from each other and obvious than if they had just left it
Thanks

Cheers Kevin - that’s a properly handy guide.
Good to watch them work out it out nearly ‘live’. Hopefully they got stuck (and had to work out offline) at all the same bits that I would have got stuck with.
As always, appreciate the time taken to reply
P.s. Galwaygreen - its a fixed bar. Still far from un-nickable though!Corris Grey SDV6 D4 2015 HSE

Just to save you asking in the future, its a 6.35mm or 1/4" ball bearing. You will find it in the corner of the garage once you have bought a new one...
