If the met office can't predict the winter or summer in the same year based on "projections", how can they be sure that global warming models are correct

Ah, that's easy. The starting point is that the models are right; everything else must be wrong and therefore manipulated and manufactured until it makes the models look right
I've always surmised that the output from the met office would improve if they spent less time 'at it' on the tables, and more time sat at the tables predicting weather.Dr. Ian Malcolm:
"Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."

They've [the CRU, not the MET office] cherrypicked russian data to choose stations with nearby rapid development (therefore heat output) in the past few decades, ignored the remaining 75% of remote russian weather stations showing no warming trend, used dodgy temperature proxies (bristle cone pines), highly criticised but continued to use them anyway, presented to the world graphs hacked together from totally different proxies and sources and to boot used algorithms that hunt for hockey sticks even when given random noise.
If this is the state of the data input into all the world models, then all I can say is $h1t in, $h1t out.
Thats without even starting on the physics which doesn't stand up anyway

A little known fact but the Met Office is actually 'owned' and operated by the MoD...and since when do they ever get their 'story' right

There there, you are appreciated you poor little dear. Are those big horrible boys picking on you again.
I think we will have to report them to the "poor and helplessly weak" discrimination board. I'm sure they'll send their spies around to the bullies houses and gather enough evidence to have them locked up for life.
Remember the weak shall inherit the earth... I'm sure it was something like that..

I have to say, one upside to this weather is that one can listen to the Today programme for more than 15 minutes without hearing someone bleat on about carbon emissions, now.
And the Met Office have very strong links to the above-mentioned CRU at East Anglia. They have become a "climate change" advocacy group as much as a weather predicting service.
I've had it up to my keister with the whole lot of those watermelons...55-Reg Java Black SE, Unlocked SatNav (via Wiggs and Bodsy), Nudge Bar/Driving Lamps/RAI, Front & Rear Lamp Guards, RLD Sump Plate, RLD spare wheel protector
