Hi All,

At first I thought my D3 was a bit soft as well, then I realised a couple of things,

1. I was not prepared to sacrifice any off road suspension articluation for the sake of more sway bar.

2. Being an Aussie I pushed it just a bit harder and discovered that that is exactly what's needed to get some more "Active" in the active suspension. Just a little faster into the corners and a little quicker on the turn in movement at the wheel and you will be surprised how flat the D3 stay under pressure. I guess most of you already know this but it is a leap of faith.

I cannot agree more. Mr. Green

Simonsi however has the right idea, and if you look at his signature, likes the D3, but also needs different bits from a RRS. Personally I can see the benefit of Brembo's. Very Happy

NOTE: I am not saying the D3 does not have great brakes, but any improvements on brakes is good, even when you don't always need it. It's like owning a gun, rather have it, and not need it, than need it and not have it. Whistle

Maybe, just thought the numbers of RRS owners who look underneath would be less - seems more appetite for mods here Very Happy

Trying not to be over-sensitive but a hugely long thread about don't do it and buy a Q7 instead isn't what I was trying to achieve...

Who's ripping peoples ideas apart Thud

I just think its plain silly and unnecessary to do on the D3.

Other opinions may vary of course, but thats what this place is about.

I've now stopped asking questions on the forum because the sarcastic comments from some of the "elite" on the forum just Censored me off. Your not the first and wont be the last to get unhelpful comments. I am sure its just to get their post count up and as they have nothing useful to add just post their own blinkered view of the world. Just because they know something in one area they then think they can pontificate on everything and are above been civil. Hope you get a useful reply. I fully expect to get told loudly by the friends of the "elite" how helpful they all are and how the forum would be poorer without them and how can I be so sensitive. etc etc etc.

FFS Thud

I'll never post a personal opinion here again then.

I assume no one else will either so this place can just be a technical nerd fest.

Sorry but I am now unable to comment in case it offends anyone. I have nothing technical to say about those laughing emoticons.

The handling issue could be down to worn bushes, they are well known for it. I can feel the wear on my D3 and it is going in on Monday to have the anti roll bar bushes and ball joints replaced under warranty. I think this will stiffen up the handling a bit.

Thanks Thumbs Up I'll get them checked, must admit I'm not sure if I have a particular issue with my car or they are all like that, certainly can't detect any bush rumble noise and the car is nearly silent (esp compared to a D2) at speed to had assumed it was like it was supposed to be....thanks for the advice Very Happy
 Cheers

You can't really hear anything on the anti roll bar bushes, but if you get a slight knock sometime when you hit potholes etc, then it is likely the ball joints.

I can really feel a difference on mine from when I first got it to now. Hopefully on Monday it will back with all new bits with stiffer handling

Worn anti roll bar stirrups will cause a knocking noise.

So will steering racks components and as you say ball joints.

Nothing to do with your initial query on suspension, but what size wheels do you have fitted to your D3?
I notice a big difference in body roll when I drive D3's fitted with 17" & 18" wheels, in comparison to my HSE with 19" wheels.
The 19"s with Pirelli's are a good combo. on the road, better than you'd imagine they could be off-road as well.
I've been "moding" vehicles to suit my needs for years, the D3 is the only vehicle in the past 15 years that I've done almost nothing to. So far just needed to sort the lack of performance out by having a re-map & replacing the air filter. Got a set of 19"s with MTR's fitted as well, for off-road fun.
It does what I want it to do very well, so I've not bothered to doing anything else. But I'd like to fit Brembo's, as the standard brakes are only just able to cope with the extra performance. Plus I've been used to AP Racing brakes & after those all "normal" brakes seem inadequate!
