anthill - No problem Trip

anthill is back after a 4450Km trip. Most of the distance was towing a 2 tonne caravan. The Disco had almost no problems at all and returned 15.6 litres/100Km. The only slight problem was the reverse distance sensors not working properly, always after travelling on corrugated dirt roads and a twiddle with wires on the back of the sensors fixed the problem until the next lot of dirt road. I used the command shift mostly while towing.

Great piccis. I guess your caravan must be much more solid than a UK one to survive. White does look good in a hot country, didn't think I would ever say that about white cars Embarassed

That was some trip, well done anthill. Just goes to show what the car can do in reality.

It's had a few washes, can't have a dirty D3 letting the side down!

What are those bits / ariels sticking out the grille at the front? Are they CB antennas?

Also like the colour - sets off well against the background / truck! Must be a pain to keep clean though?

Is that little red model next to your Disco your car for serious off-roading?

Hello Anthill.
Where did you get the clear Headlamp protectors? I cracked a headlamp housing on a Roo, and although I have an ARB Bull bar now, the lamps are still a bit exposed to stone strikes, etc. Please let me know where I can get a set. Thanks,
Geoff Rogers.

Geoff,

Head lamp covers are available at your LR dealer. Cost about $90.

I must admit the design is pretty hopeless. The covers have little chance at staying on without the help of velcro at the bottom. The covers don't "lock" onto anything at the bottom and are expected to grip the bottom of the light. In practice the bottom just slips off. A squirt of a high pressure washer will blow the cover off at the bottom.

Put some velcro on the bottm to get them to stay on.

I find they stay in well at the bottom if you push them in hard, the top clip is the main problem, it won't come off with the bonnet closed but it does move around a bit

You can push them all you like, they just don't grip the bottom.

It is possible the covers we get here are not folded over enough to give it any grip on the bottom. Or maybe it is just my set which is dodgy.
