Another upper tailgate modification
Mine is working OK at the moment but I did notice that I can't open it from the inside without hunting for the keys, not fun when sleeping in the back.
So I added a cheapo Chinese switch into the upper inside lid, shared wires to the external switch so now I can pop it from the inside.
Or is this where you guys tell me that if I press the light 6 times, and my left elbow it'll open up and I've wasted my efforts, LOL

Nice modification. Might do this to the Discovery and Freelander
There is a Land Rover part (CPLA-10E998-AA) that could be used. A bit more expensive than the OP's solution.

My bro-in-law has a FFRR with electric boot opening, which triggers both upper and lower sections from memory. Be really nice to see if this could be replicated into a D4.Cheers,
