Another suspension error (Please Help) |
|
OK guys, I know this is just ANOTHER suspension error but my problem is that no one knows where to start looking for the cause….
Does anybody know what the “Cross Articulation†error is and what the cause could be, LR replaced the height sensors, recalibrated the height and tested a new compressor but still without any luck?
If anyone has any ideas, please let me know..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=STt7DmJeeVc

Hi Tiaan
When does the error come up? When in low range? In terrain response? 2005 Discovery 3 V8 SE

What is the symptoms? Does it lower the suspension? Is the HDC available? Is terrain response available? Can you adjust the suspension up and down? 2005 Discovery 3 V8 SE

Driving in any condition and in any mode the suspension light comes on red with "Suspension Fault" next "Special Programs Not Available" and then "Max Speed 30 MPH" or something to that effect….
Next the D3 drops to bumpstops.
A simple switch off and back on will clear the error and the D3 will return to normal height (or whatever mode selected). Drive another 1-10Km and the error is back and down to the bumpstops…. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=STt7DmJeeVc

Cross articulation means that the ecu has seen a movement of the suspension which it deems as unlikey or impossible, such as driving at 40mph & one wheel increasing or decreasing in height by a large amount. This fault code usually sets when driven at speed on the road, (over 30 or 40mph, my memory isn't what it used to be).
The likely cause is a change in resistance in the wiring or height sensor which causes a change in the voltage fooling the ecu into thinking the height has changed, when in fact it hasn't.
As you have changed the height sensors it's probably a wiring issue.
Regards
Steve
