Have not seen project domino effect used before the vote but I have seen it used a lot after to somehow reassure the people that whatever advantage we could have had by staying in EU it will vanish anyway as EU will collapse. Also in the idea that Brexit will start that. It was coming out at every election in other EU countries

I haven't ever seen any polling regarding Brexit voting to bring about the collapse of the EU.

So do you now trust/rely on polls?

Guardian ran something on it before the Referendum.
Not sure it would qualify as pro-Brexit propaganda though.
Presumably Wolfgang Schäuble isn't a Brexiteer?

Not sure about what you are trying to say but surprised that you quote the Guardian and a poll!!!
Is that a change or just convenience?

Regarding what Brexiters were saying before every election in EU and the Domino effect you can just go back to our Brexit thread here

The manifesto of the governing party commited to leave the EU, even under a no-deal scenario.

A manifesto is not legally binding. Neither was the referendum. That the Tory leadership is so scared of a handful of their own backbenchers, is the reason we are where we are.

I have often referenced the Guardian and when you mentioned not seeing 'domino effect' before the referendum I thought it was pertinent.
If you'd rather the 'original' Die Welt version, it's here: https://www.dw.com/en/german-finance-minister-schäuble-warns-of-brexit-domino-effect/a-19321166

As for polls, of course they have much less authority than votes, but are generally more informative than anecdote. I haven't seen anything other than anecdote when it comes to 'project domino'.

In my response to you I said that I have seen the Domino effect thing used mainly after by Brexiters and there are plenty of examples also in our Brexit threads particularly before elections in countries in Europe so not sure what you want to say. You can find lots of reference to that with google so do not understand why you have chosen that one
Brexiters were referring to that to say that whatever benefit we might have had in EU they would desappear because EU will impllde, to say EU is dead, Brexit is the start etc and again nothing of that happened (Actually EU 27 seems to be more aligned regarding Brexit than UK government members)

Facts, votes, polls, anecdotes what a difficult world with so many definitions and ranking of "value" when it comes to define things and justify and support personal views and interpretations

You said you "Have not seen project domino effect used before the vote" whereas it was in the Guardian and Die Welt articles before the vote.
Maybe some of your supposed anecdotes from Brexiteers using it were mistaken, such as with CC below.
It is very much firmly within the realm of anecdote anyway.

So it was used also before the vote by Guardian
Wow that is important and totally invalidates what I say then

Regarding anecdote or whatever you want to call it just Google it and you will find plenty and again you can find them also in the Brexit thread

That's a big shortfall in trade to make up. How much will you be drinking? Shocked Laughing

Are we really just going to stop all exports to the EU, people are buying our goods because they want them not because we are part of the EU.

I'm not saying there won't be an effect, of course there will, but its not just going to stop, we will still buy BMWs, Audis, Peugeots etc like they will still buy Land Rovers etc.

There was also a piece on the news the other day saying how credit card charges etc were going to be hampered when you travel to the EU, why on earth would that happen, do we not travel outside the EU now?

That's the problem with Project Fear, it is based on nonsense and saying things again and again doesn't make them into facts. Whistle

Do not know what was in the news but for credit charges the document from the government says

Quote:
The cost of card payments between the UK and EU will likely increase, and these cross-border payments will no longer be covered by the surcharging ban (which prevents businesses from being able to charge consumers for using a specific payment method).

So no stop in use but a real risk of increases in costs.

some bank cards offer zero cost for foreign transactions wherever they may be made now, is there going to be a law made to make them charge????? It may even help reduce charges.......

So what?
Do you read what I write?
Did not say that it was the reason of the vote (actually say the opposite as I have not really seen this before the vote) but a silly justification used after by some!!!
