One of the biggest criticisms of the Discovery Sport is the lack of the 'command driving position' in reality you are sat just as high up, however, the sides of the doors are much higher giving the impression you are sat lower in the car, judging by the driver in those shots, it would appear that this new car will be the same?
I disagree, because you can't see over the bonnet of the DS, even LR say you sit in it rather than on it, at least they called it the Sports Command Driving position in the Evoque. Both the Disco and Fl2 the driver was looking over the bonnet.
You disagree? You mean it has a command driving position?
http://www.landrover.co.uk/vehicles/discov...iew-9.html
The command driving position gives you the feeling that you are sat high up, partly due to the fact you are sat high up and partly due to the fact the lower window line is quite low, the DS and new Disco have higher lines, as you say you sit in them. The Command position is the former, you sit high up! If you want a better command view buy a transit van.
I understand what you mean by looking over the bonnet, however, when I had the DS for a day it wasn't a problem in practical use.
The thing I worry about this new car is its size, I've stood next to the concept car and it was mahoosive.A fine is a tax for doing wrong. A tax is a fine for doing well.

I know what LR say it has but in reality you don't get the "elevated view" that the brochure claims, it's no better than one of those jacked up hatchbacks.
Anyway back on topic the DS is a forbidden discussion on here.
LR claim the new car will have all the practicalities of the current one, but I fail to see how when the new one has a curved rear screen.

Hopefully it will still have the split tailgate, otherwise it's just another jelly mould wannabe.

Those wheels are insane! I cannot imagine how terrible they would be on even a gravel road, let alone off road. What is the point of a car like that? If you are going to make it into a sports wagon, why not just go the full way and get something like a Mercedes or BMW wagon? Or even the Range Rover Sport...I don't see the differentiation in their line up...it seems like all of them now are just giant sports cars with a lot of room in the back, just like all the other up-market SUV's...
I am so happy I got the D4 when I did! Without fail, as soon as people get in the first time they comment on the incredible visibility and seating position. No one I have met is saying, "You know, I wish this car had 22" racing wheels and could go faster around the Nurburgring!"

Also, this D3 sounds like a tie fighter going around the corners! Those poor tyres...

forget the design, the price will be the killer for most folks, 7 to 10k more expensive than the equivilent D4 spec is whats rumoured, so looks like that puts it out of my price range. Glad I brought D4 when I did.

Must admit I'm feeling quite pleased about the timing of my purchase too. If the D5 doesn't do it for me then I have a brilliant car to run until an alternate comes along and if the D5 does fit the bill I will have one of the last D4's to trade which i think will have a strong market for.MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten

It's price that kills it for me, so I'm in the same camp as the others, happy I bought when I did.
Though I think my next car will be a used Range Rover Vogue (L405) 3.0 TDV6, I've owned many LRs but the Range Rover is the one I want to own before I snuff it, I have a Land Rover bucket list 23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

I guess LR will never learn.
After the D1 they came out with the D2.
Less utilitarian, more expensive, lots of complains from existing owners.
That's why they did not sell any
Then they launched the D3.
Less utilitarian, more expensive, lots of complains from existing owners.
That's why they did not sell any
Then comes the D4.
Less utilitarian, more expensive, lots of complains from existing owners.
That's why they did not sell any
Now the D5.
Less utilitarian, more expensive, lots of complains from existing owners.
That's why they will not sell any
