Ambient Temperature Display

Drove through Calais yesterday morning (21st) and there had been an exceptionally hard overnight frost and about an inch of snow - very festive. Most of the day, the external temperatures where around 0C and coming back through Kent last night, it dropped to -2C.

I've always thought that my ambient temperature display was about right but have just taken the motor out on a shortish run this afternoon and the display appears to have stuck on -1C (which is what it was showing when I parked up last night) despite an outside thermometer on the wall of my house reading 6C.

Does it sound as if my ambient temperature sensor's failed or would it have rectified itself if I had been out on longer run? It's in at the local stealers on 27th for a failed FBH + some other warranty bits so maybe another item for the list Big Cry
