Altox help please
Hi, read a lot on here but my problem still comes up short.
I bought a used Altox WBUS-5 GPS, also a new link harness from the shop.
Loaded a giffgaff sim in, Searched and found the plug, so all connected now. The led is showing a slow flash so it is in standby mode.
Now the problem is that I am getting no response from the unit when I send it a text, its a bit of a pain. I have checked the sim in an old i phone and it has reception and a 4g connection so that bits ok.
So from what I can tell I need to send this message APN1:giffgaff.com,APN2:giffgaff,APM3 and it should initialise the Altox to the giffgaff network. Am I reading this correctly?
Then once done the altox should send me a text BUT will it recognise my phone number or will it still text the old phone number from the previous owner?
Any advice gratefully receivedDiscovery 4 3.0 HSE 2010 year. I like it a lot. Now with winch π

Control and Programming
You can start using your ALTOX module right after you have saved authorized phone numbers in settings (3 cells: NUM1 / NUM2 / NUM3). Saving of the first caller's phone number into cell NUM1 follows up automatically (cell NUM1 should be empty).
To save other phone numbers use a text message command NUMX:+YYYYY, where X is a number from 1 to 3, and +YYYYY is a phone number.
To clear the cell send NUMX instruction without specifying a phone number. There are the following control options:
- Outgoing voice call and DTMF commands;
- Outgoing text messages (SMS instructions);
- Mobile applications Thermo Call, HeaterRC or others;
- Direct control via a button in the car's interior;
- Via web interface of the mobile Internet app http://altox.ru/app
Control via an outgoing call
Call the phone number of the SIM card installed in the GSM module. The phone number you are using to make a call should already be saved in the device (see text messages SMS-commands). If the call is made using a number that has not been saved in the ALTOX module, the connection with the device will end without receiving a response signal. The working status of the heater will not change.
When setting CALL1 is activated, ALTOX responds to the call and plays voice prompts (option).
If this setting is not active (CALL0), the call is dropped after a certain number of ringing tones. 1 ringing tone - the heater switches on,
2 ringing tones - the heater switches off.

We thank you for purchasing a new ALTOX WBUS-5 GPS device. This device will provide you with great options to control your autonomous starting parking heater.
You need a SIM card for your ALTOX device. It is recommended to use special plans for M2M equipment.

Hi,you have probably already done this but I hope it helps.
Send it the phone number like this.NUM1:XXXXXXXXXXX
and internet settings like this
(Ignore the underline )
Remember that syntax is vital

When I first set mine up I did the following
Send (to giff gaff Altox number)
num1:+44(your phone number NOT the Altox number)
you get a reply
A0 R1 B0 T30.0.0 and so on but there is a line starting
N1"+44( the number you sent in the first text)
then send (again to giff gaff Altox number)
APN:giffgaff.com,anp2.:giffgaff
You should get a reply confirming text from your number and the Giff Gaff APN
Then send(to giff gaff Altox number)
apn1:giffgaff.com,apn1:giffgaff
A reply came back with an id number and a string of letters and numbers
That was it just sent a text then Start and away it went

Thanks for the reply, its working now. I contacted Altox on Sunday and they replied within 20mins. Their customer service is out of this world and really cannot be praised enough. They were brilliant, I sent them some details and they did some magic.
Before I knew it giffgaff was sending me those multiple text to say my credit was being used, saved it at Β£7.35!
What I would say for future reference is that how you format the text to the Altox is critical. Read through the info from GStuart a lot, then the key is the formatting tip from thisandy and mick. Also if you buy second hand and you dont have all the unique unit id and log in passwords etc you will struggle to get anything from it. You will need them all resetting by the Altox people.
