Black to earth, either joined to the Altox earth wire or elsewhere (easier direct to the Altox black wire).

Thought is would be as simple as that but didn’t want to find out the hard way it wasn’t! Thanks very much.

I’m still struggling with my install! I have followed the guide but I don’t seem to be able get the sim settings to work or the button start. I took everything off and retraced my steps, checking continuity on all connections which are all good. I am getting a solid yellow light in the unit so it’s getting power but it won’t seem to accepted the sim (blinks once every 30 seconds with sim installed). I can live without the sim function if I’m honest but I can’t even get it to work on the button. I’ve measured across the button before fitting and it is operating correctly but not talking to the unit to fire the fbh. I know it’s a bit of an open post as no one can see my install but having redone the install and checking the joints I’m pretty certain they are good if any one else has any pointers! Should the button work even if the SIM card isn’t working? TIA

I’ve not tried without the SIM card, but I’d have thought the button should work ok without sim.
Which sim do you have. Are you sure the sim is fully pushed into the unit and you’ve felt the small click to secure it in the Altox?
You’ve registered the sim and topped it up?
You’ve then put it into a phone to get properly on the network?Bodsys Brake Bible
Ian,he was using a 3 sim, as the supplied Giff Gaff had poppped out the smallest nano sim, new giff gaff on its way
I've asked Thomas if the button would fire without the sim, awaiting a reply, only question I have us that if the settings are not confirmed for the correct heater type at initialisation, it wouldn't fire
UPDATE
Hi Greg
It will be able to fire up just with button, but only after it is set up with a sim
This is the only Wbus controller, that can work several protocols in one, so at first ring/message etc, it automatically sets itself up to right protocol..

Still no joy. New sim arrived and I activated it and put it in a mobile to make sure I had signal etc. This was all good so I put it in the altox but it’s is the same as before as in the yellow/orange light is steady but blinks off once every 30 seconds or so. SIM card clicks into place and removes ok. At a bit of a loss now!

As I thought, it needs initialising, then it will fire from the button without a sim in
Yes mine works on the button when/if the SIM is out of credit.
On that subject my Vodafone sim seems to lose its balance after about three months I assume it is to be used within a set period. I am looking for SIM recommendations where the credit rolls over until spent. Maybe GIFF GAFF?
