Altezza D3

Ciao a tutti,

Thumbs Up

AGGIORNAMENTO:

Yes - the calibration values are fixed if you don't change them.

There is only one set of calibration values and the suspension ECU uses these to keep the car level irrespective of suspension height (i.e. access, normal or off-road).

If you want to increase the ride height (in all modes), then you need to subtract "x" from all calibration values.

For example if you have 4, -11, 3, 14 then to increase the ride height by approximately 15mm, you would change them to -26, -43, -27, -16. This should "calibrate" the suspension so that it sits around 15mm higher and still be pretty much level. You don't need to set the ECU in calibration mode, or even be parked on a level surface. I've even changed calibration heights whilst driving (using a saved file) and it works fine

I do think that there is a slightly different relation between the differences in calibration values on the front and back of the vehicle due to the different lengths of the height sensor rods, but it usually isn't necessary to worry about it too much.

If you change these values, it is worth doing a measured calibration to make sure that the vehicle is indeed level.

1. Park the D3 on level ground and leave the engine running.

2. Using the MSV-2, put the suspension ECU into calibration mode and leave it 20 seconds for it to adjust the heights (it will probably take just a few seconds and the changes may be too small to spot). You should see the suspension light on the dashboard.

3. Measure from the centre of the wheel to the bottom of the wheel arch. If you are sure that your tyres are all identical in terms of pressure and tread wear, then you can just measure from the floor as it's easier.

4. Choose one corner as a reference measurement and then adjust the calibration values for the other three corners until the height is the same (+/- 1-2mm is fine).

5. You'll probably need to repeat steps 3-4 one or two times until you are happy.

6. Take the suspension out of calibration mode and job done.

Once you've done it a few times, it really is a 5 minute job using the MSV-2

Hope this helps,
Paul

per tranquillizzarti:

my D3 has always had a slightly nose down stance. I don't know whether to set it level or keep it as it is, I am conscious of the headlights already being set quite high and I don't want to dazzle other drivers

Follow the steps in my earlier post and adjust the values of each corner until the height is the same on each. It is the height measurement that needs to be correct - there is no "correct" number for the calibration value.

If you don't know what height to look for, once it's in calibration mode, simply "pick" a corner that looks about right and then keep adjusting all the others until they have the same measurement.

This should also be the first step for headlamp alignment. Calibrate the suspension first so that each corner (up to the bottom of the wheel arch) is the same, and then adjust the headlamp beam if necessary.

Also, remember that your nearside beam pattern should appear to be "slightly" higher than the offside one - you should be able to see a small step up/down between the two when projecting onto a wall infront of the you.

peccato Whistle

Mr. Green

A presto
