OMFG.....sorry about the strong start but it's an alternator, that's all, changed a few on other cars .. series 2. 300TDI but this takes the biscuit. Took me 2 an 3/4 hrs. Battery light on dash and only 11.5 v at Batt when running. So time to change.
Managed to get it out with only removing intercooler hose.
Out through bottom O/S splash sheild. Sorry removed this too.
Thought I would be smart and moved route of main + wire. Then found could not get it back in. So wire off again and put it back how it was. Is it me or does the + ve recoil like going in cold sea!!!
Happy now it's back in. Charge at 14.6 V now Do I look at DIY refurbish of old or delco unit or give to rag and bone man?Land rovers are to prevent you having idle hands.

Next time, go through the top removing the fan. It's much quicker.

Next time!! How long have I got till I go here again? Days weeks or months. And if you go from top, how do you disconnect wires? this is where I lost time, pesky four prong locator end. Old one was out in 45 mins. Could do with 2 or 4 post lift, but that's asking for too much.
Where do I advertise wheels and tyres on here for sale? For D3Land rovers are to prevent you having idle hands.

Anyone know off hand what the torque is for the fan retaining bolt?It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I could look it up but just snugging it up is good enough as it tightens itself when in use.

I did mine through the bottom took about 45 mins. Had to take inter cooler pipe off I think. They joys are are it's coming off again as it's causing lights to pulse and windows to behave like anti-trap. 😫

If you thought that was fun, you should have a go on the 3.6... My D3 Build Thread
