Alternative portable jack??? Any ideas??

Sod’s law, after asking for advice earlier this week about overland tyres, I get a flat whilst overlanding!

I had a spare plus tools so I thought I was all set for a swift wheel swap BUT the LR scissor jack was crap!!

It took ages to raise the car as I couldn’t get much leverage on the bar to turn the crank and hence raise the truck.

So my new question is, what alternatives are out there for a mobile jack to carry in the truck?

Who uses what and why??

Thanks again

I originally bought a Sprinter jack but couldn't get an adapter made easily.

Sold that and bought a 2 tonne trolley jack from Machine Mart which sits behind the middle row seats.

Good ideas - thanks

I’ve had a PM about a scissor jack from SA called a Gortech. Anyone else got any experience of these?

I thought it looked well made and suitable for a D4.

If I was using it under a D4 I would ensure that it stood on a suitable wooden pad.

I have a square of 18mm ply in my car for just this purpose.

Suicide jacks are scary. I use an SGS bottle jack
https://www.sgs-engineering.com/tbj5-5-ton-telescopic-bottle-jack
and a nice solid plate to stand it on

I've been using a Merc Sprinter bottle jack for a few years and it fits the jack compartment with a little cutting of the foam.

The d1/2 bottle jacks are very good, decent sized base, two stage, unsure if they will fit under the lower arms with a puncture?

I bought a 4 ton (to be on the safe side) bottle jack and modified an area in the tool tray for it.

I’ve got a hilka 5t bottle Jack in the car for emergency’s but if I’m gout out in the rough the trolley Jack goes in the passenger footwell along with a 3inch thick board I made up to give extra height on the drive but acts a stable base in the mud
