Alde heating in caravans

Hi all, anybody have any experience on battery usage while using the Alde heating on none electric sites (while rallying) and the usual tv on at night etc.

We normally just rally for a weekend.

We are thinking about swapping our van from the older truma system that on non electric sites we just use the gas convection rather than the blown air.

Obviously battery usage will be more but experiences would be appreciated.

As far as I can tell the Alde system uses 0.4 -0.6 A .

We do normally carry a spare 100A charged battery just in case.

So do you think we would be OK with 2x 100A batteries for a weekend away.

I have had the last three caravans with this heating system and spent weekends on battery only no issues but then they have all had solar panels fitted from factory you could get a folding solar panel to trickle some power into battery but two good battery’s I can’t see you having a problem I also use a 1500 watt invertor and only have one battery hope this helps

Thanks for the reply, I'm planning on fitting a 100w solar panel on roof the same as the current van.

One thing I will tell you is that you will not regret moving to Alde heating. We lived in our caravan from November to April when we retuned from Aus. Van was always toasty even in the depths of winter.

I’ve got an Aldi wet system in my caravan. I’ve been ‘off grid’ for up to 2 weeks in it. It has solar panels, and the 2 week stint was not with heating on all the time. However, we did use tv, and had an Engel fridge plugged into the 12v.
