Alarm Sounds When Unlocking With Key Fob

2010 Discovery 4 is not unlocking when I use the key fob and the alarm siren is going off. Repeatedly pressing the unlock button on the key fob eventually stops the siren and unlocks but it seems to be taking longer each time. For now, I have locked it with the key using the lock on the passenger side hoping that it will unlock without making a sound early in the morning.
In case it is related I have an issue with the date and time resetting to 12:00 and 01/01/2009 which I posted on this forum in February 2021 and no luck yet in finding a solution.
Has anyone else experienced these issues and can point me in the right direction for solutions?
Thanks for any help.

Have you checked the battery voltage?

Thank you for your suggestion. I tested the battery voltage this evening and it tested ok.
I was able to unlock the car using the key in the passenger side door without setting the alarm off and unlock the rest of the doors centrally using the button inside the door. Presumably that means locking with the key doesn’t set the alarm.
If there are any other suggestions please let me know.
Thanks again for your help.

MikeO, you’re a genius!
When I first tested the battery it was after I had returned from a journey, which, in hindsight wasn’t the optimum time. When I tested.again after the leaving the car for 24 hours the voltage was well down. I have now replaced the battery and my alarm woes have gone away.
Thanks very much for the pointer, much appreciated.

Well, after a month of trouble free unlocking the issue has returned.
When I press the unlock on the remote, the doors don’t unlock and then the alarm sound - note this is a siren sound not the car horn which I believe is the backup alarm?
I had locked the car manually on Saturday and when I tried unlocking it this morning it only unlocked the passenger door - I had to lean across and unlock the driver door from the inside.
Then, no response from the start button, no dash lights, nothing.
Lifted the bonnet and checked the battery voltage and all ok. Climbed back in the driver seat and the start button worked.
Took the car to the local garage who plugged in a device and cleared any recorded faultS - there wasn’t anything obviously related to this issue. I left the car for a good hour and used the unlock button again only for it he car to fail to unlock and the siren alarm to go off again.
Any ideas what the problem might be?
