Alarm light flashing

When I was driving this morning the alarm red light on the left at the bottom of the rev counter was flashing fairly slowly, say every 3 seconds.

The car locks and unlocks as it should but when I take the key out and leave it unlocked the light still flashes.

Any ideas anyone?

On my car, it was one of the first signs that the battery was on it's way out. Also lots of "HDC unavailable" notices. Just replaced it and had no problems since. Thumbs Up

Thanks for your comments Steve..

I too have been getting the odd "HDC unavailable and special programmes off" messages flash up, so it looks like a new battery then!
