Update on the AT3s I got last November: they have been a great all rounder, good in cold, wet, slushy, floody and snowy conditions last winter; good on summer tarmac at speed; presentable in deliberately muddy and wet grassy offroad situations.
But at 12000 miles they look about half worn. If they last 2 years and do 24k miles that will be disappointing compared to the AT2s I had last which did well over 30k. I guess they are all season so are a softer compound so I shouldn’t be too surprised.
Plus given that I would want at least 4mm for winter use they will have to be binned sooner.
Let’s see how they do this winter with half tread depth....2016 D4 Landmark SDV6 (Euro6), Zanzibar (late run D4)
2009 D4 HSE TDV6, Bali blue (first run D4)
2007 RRS TDV8 HSE, some blue

I am also considering GG AT3s for exactly the same purpose, road driving, snow and mud/grass lanes etc. Do you recommend them for a casual greenlaner (to be) and mostly road driving? How noisy are they compared to Pirellis? (what i had in my previous D3)

Bit alarmed by the talk of GG AT3 not lasting as long as my AT2s, the last two sets of these have done to 40k each so the notion of 20-25k is a bit disappointing.
Anyone else had better experience of their wear rates?

I’ve had my AT3’s on a month now and although I’ve not taken them off road, they have performed really well in all conditions, much much better than AT2’s and quieter. Wet in AT2’s was always a bit sketchy but the AT3’s are much better. I haven’t noticed any difference in noise to the Scorpions. Very happy with the purchase from AJS.RLD CB Bracket

Andy,
Normally get the Pirelli’s off you for my wife’s Disco.
Have had a number of people recommend the Michelin CrossClimates....how do you rate them?
Any idea how they compare?
Car is used for general road driving plus a bit of green landing when towing the horse box. Uses as the only family vehicle when the snow hits too.
Cheers

Thought I'd mention on here that just popped up to see Andy, Dean and the team at AJS (jct 8 m25) and I can safely say what they do not know about tyres etc is probably not worth knowing. Cracking service and a lot of care taken by all. Thoroughly recommend and I will not be going elsewhere for my tyres in future. Thank you to Barry at Compomotive for cracking service as well, despatching the 5 rims for next day delivery even with the covid issues.

Hi Moo,
Went for BF Goodrich K02 in 265/60/18. Was going to go for the 65's but was concerned about getting the spare stowed.
Will tackle anything I can chuck at it during the season and having the snow flake/mountain symbol was a must. Means can keep them on all year round and drive to the alps without needing to swap.
Have had to be a little 'creative' price wise when relaying to wifey!

I've had the K02s on for about 20k now and whilst they are a much better road tyre than the original ATs I find that they clog up much more quickly when being used off road in anger. I suspect this may be due to the inclusion of the grooves (SIPS?) into the tyre blocks that are required to get the snowflake rating.Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE
