Aircon problems

Hi all, is there a thread anywhere with a step by step or list of potential aircon faults and causes?

I know there are a variety of possible causes, but not sure how to try to isolate to which one I have.

All I know is it doesn't work, and it's very hot!!

I have a code reader which shows live values, aircon pressure is 12.51kpa

In hot weather its useless, blows hot air. In marginally warm weather it does seem to try to cool the air a bit, but nothing like it should.

If you're not getting a low pressure fault, then it may just be the heater control module. About £75, find it behind the lower glovebox screwed onto the plastic ducting to the right of the blower.

At 12.5 kpa i would say the system is fully gassed so it has no leaks but another issue does the pressure change at all Thumbs Up

is there any way of testing the blower control module mate? What does it do exactly and are there any faults codes associated with it?

ok thanks, I thought that might be low. But a post above seemed to suggest otherwise. Is there anywhere obvious to look for leaks before I spend money on regassing?

My Aircon's not working either, just connected IID Tool, pressure starts at 625 and runs at about 750 kpa
Anyone know what it's supposed to be and why my interior temp is 35 degrees and not ALOT cooler... Shocked

If you have rear Aircon fitted, the pipes that run along the LH side of the car are notorious for failing. Condensers also go. I bought a cheap UV torch to trace the dye and could quickly see my rear pipes had had it.

Mine runs at about that and is really cold but does go over 1000kpa when standing still for a while also the front condensers go quickly i had mine re-gassed twice this year only to find that the Schraeder valve was not sitting right after the first re-gas also replaced the pollen filter Thumbs Up

Hmm, so mine seems to be holding some sort of decent pressure? I do have rear aircon also so will have to check those dreaded rear pipes....

MikeO, are you adding 'dye' to the system? If so where are you putting it in?

You add dye the same time you re-gas the same goes for adding oil to lube the rubber washers Thumbs Up
