| Aircon cooling driver side only |

So,
Another random question.
Just driven back from portugal, and found passenger side HVAC starting to blow less and less cold, and now warm air regardless of temperature setting.
Driver side is definitely cool, but not as cold as normal.
Bizarrely, the same seems to be happening in the middle-row vents coming out the centre console, and i thought they both came out of the driver side!
IID shows no errors at all.
I know there’s a forced ‘self test’, but can’t seem to get it to work; press A/C button and Recirc together then press start without foot on brake.doesn’t seem to do anything.
Has anyone got instructions for the forced self-test for an automatic D4 with keyless start
Anyone experienced anything similar?
Have seen some stuff on either re-gas and cleaning heater matrix (assuming this means evapourator) but neiher sound appealing. 2011 D4 XS : LHD
2005 D3 HSE : reluctant sale, but moved abroad. Great car.

Update;
Checked my pressure with IID tool
Ambient 30°c
Evaporator temp 35°c off, 31°c engine running
A/C system pressure : 112psi engine off, 237psi engine running A/C on
Checked agianst this post and seems pressures roughly in correct range; little high maybe when switched on.
Think this rules out a coolant leak? 2011 D4 XS : LHD
2005 D3 HSE : reluctant sale, but moved abroad. Great car.

I had same problem with a D3. Managed to restore normal function with a crude repair, but proper fix requires air control box repacement, which is many hours of awkward dismantling and reassembly. Chris

I had exactly the same symptoms on my RRS… it was a split condenser radiator which was gradually losing fluid.. it had enough in the system to cool one side bizarrely but not the drivers side.. the dealer tested it replaced the rad and regassed it and it now works fine!
I suggest having a close look at the condenser rad which is the one at the very front of the others…and the one most likely to take the stone hit…

Under centre of dashboard is a plastic box, which is fed with air from the blower on n/s. The box has internal flaps which are operated by four stepper motors, directing and mixing airflow as instructed by climate control settings.
The three left buttons with leds floor/dash vents/ screen simply open or close vents. The temperature dials move flaps progressively. The problem I had was a broken plastic spindle, so the steppers were moving but not controlling the upper flaps. My fix was to cut a whole in the side of the air box, drill and fit a threaded rod then secure with epoxy resin, to restore flap control.
This was very awkward and not really a satisfactory solution, although it still works. I have a D3 for spares and used that to practice disassembly, but I gave up trying to take out the air box.
You can test your airflow simply by running the blower and comparing settings with air output. Chris

Wouldn’t that result in a loss of system pressure though?

Sadly not.
Checked the system pressure and it’s fine, so I think it’s the blend valve in passenger side (my right).
Started reading how to strip the dash down to get to it, but it sort of
‘Fixed’ itself so left it.
