Airbag warning light
My airbag warning light is showing intermittently. It seems that turning the steering wheel when parking usually sets it off.
Would you say it was a clock spring fault?
I don't fancy going to my incompetent main dealer who would charge a fortune to change parts that wouldn't fix it. I would rather have a go myself if it's not to difficult.
It's possible you need a new clockspring/rotary coupler in the steering wheel - simple enough job to DIY. But before goingdown that route check all the multiplug connections underthe front seats, we had an ongoing issue on our old D3 and found it wasn't the clockspring (having changed it) but the airbag/pretensioner connector under the driver seat was loose and due to the seat being moved back and forth most days to accomodate the different drivers heights the connection frequently loosened causing the airbag light to come on.
Make sure you let the car go to sleep before you check the connectors under the seat, otherwise it won't clear the fault.
