AIR CON
Concerning front to rear air con ally pipes they cost pair £119.00 +vat. Am taking mine out @ 32000k and getting pin hole welded, if to much corrosion will have to have new. Ally pipes right in full blast of water had it been copper it would have helped, better still if the bone head who designed like that had thought about it a bit more or coated the pipes they may last a bit longer.
Getting them out is another issue. Have a look!!
All the more reason for not letting a Krapp Fitt fitter service your aircon. Get a specialist - they're more likely to know what they are doing Now an ex-D3 owner after 7 happy years. Miss the car but not the big bills
Remove NS wheel arch inner cover to access the front connections.
Remove the plastic trim along the sill by pulling the plastic plugs out the bottom of it and then pulling it off the clips that secure it to the side of the sill. Be aware though that unless you take the rear wheel off, you might not be able to take out the 2 rear securing screws but just carefully pull the sill trim out to the side,
Remove the air suspension reservoir. Carefully disconnect the air pipe to let the pressure dissipate. The suspension shouldn't lower but stick a couple of axle stands under the chassis to be on the safe side.
Remove the aircon pipes. Be aware that the studs that the support brackets are secured to will probably be so corroded that they will shear off. You might be able to save them by wire brushing and soaking them in WD40 but mine sheared. The guy that did the work on my car fitted Rivnuts the car to secure the new brackets (that come with the pipes) to, though he had to reposition the brackets. Now an ex-D3 owner after 7 happy years. My Aircon has also gone down.
I did a recharge and after two weeks the gas has all but completely leaked out. There is still enough for the compressor to run, but to no real effect.
The Leak detection came back negative and after searching the pipes visible for evidence of leaking I haven't found anything.
As this appears to be a very small leak, is there a gas I can use to seal the pipe from within?
Or, can anyone recommend someone the manchester area who can carry out the repair work?
Cheers

I've just had a leak diagnosed on my aircon, it's going in to Stratstone tomorrow. Thank God, because the warranty expires next Thursday. Lloyd "Phat Face"

I thought the compressor was on the way out. when i turned air con on it wasn't blowing as cold as it should. I could hear a sort of whistling/whiring sound when i revved the engine at first coming from pollen filter were the fan is and then thought it was under bonnet. Turned out it just needed re gassing.
Finally got my gold plated, diamond encrusted AC pipe replaced (based on the price)
Now it's actually able to contain the coolant - the AC system actually blows cold!

POAH - have a look at THIS THREAD for info, and part numbers on page2.
I've been speaking with Taggarts about ours (as per my post on page3) and am also speaking with Gemm4x4 (Edinburger) and Strathearn (up towards Perth).

Archei can I ask how much you were charged for your condenser as I think mine has gone?. I took it for regassing today and they said it was leaking from the condenser.
