Air compressor starting to get noisy

The air compressor has started to get noisy and can be clearly heard in the car when it cuts it at low speeds. no fault lights have yet come on.

Is there anything that I can do to try and extend the compressors life (Does anybody produce a service/overhaul kit) or is it a case of saving up for a new compressor?

Hopefully the housing just needs cleaning out. Common problem if you go through mud often Thumbs Up

Did you check the housing and cleaned it?
There is a great guide in the wiki http://www.disco3.co.uk/gallery/albums/use...0Cover.pdf

Might also be one of the rubber dampeners which hold the compressor that gone bust.

Just taken the cover off. SHMBO has now confessed that the crack in the cover is where she attempted to jack the car up when she had a puncture and I was away at sea Embarassed

The aluminum bracket holding the compressor has snapped. So I have to find the way to change that, hopefully a bit cheaper than a new compressor.

Local stealer had the aluminimum bracket in stock, ' common occurance sir'. 56 notes for a over complex support bracket Shocked Top bolt not easy to get to but managed to get a 1/4" drive 10 mm socket over the top of the compressor motor on the end of a screw driver attachment.

Isn't that top bolt a big pain!!?? Evil or Very Mad
Took me more time to get that out then to replace the whole compressor.
