Thinking of getting some side steps fitted. Spoke to an independant garage who didnt recommend aftermarket side steps, but recommended using genuine LR side steps.
Problem is they cost £500 more!!
Anyone else had any issues with aftermarket side steps? Or would you recommend only genuine parts?

Got aftermarket on my (from forum member Slimer), and you cant tell the difference from OEM.
Fit in exactly the same way as OEM.
Have a peek in my gallery, you can see them fitted to D4.

I think your Indy may have a set of side steps that he wants rid of.
There is nothing wrong with using the aftermarket steps, as al said, see if you can get in touch with Slimer to see if he has any steps you can get. Lee
D3 TDV6 HSE, Bonatti Grey, 7 Seats, Dual Climate, Heated F&R Seats & Screen, Fog's , Auto lights & Wipers, SAT NAV, Harmon Kardon, Cruise, many rattles, occasional leak
D2 3.9 V8 supposed to be Green, was mainly rust. Gone but not forgotten.

If you wanted to fit them yourself, it's easy if you are any good with a jigsaw and careful with plastic clips. When you get the plastic trims off the sills, turn them over, the cut outs required are moulded into the plastic and look like a couple of top hat shapes.
Just cut them out with a jigsaw using a fine blade, bolt the mounting brackets to the car using the captive nuts already in the sills, slide the plastic trims over the mountings and clip back on ( you will need to use a couple of the holes from the trim clips for the mounting brackets on the underside ) Fit the steps or tubes to the mounts and job done.
Took me about 2hrs all in as I was being very careful with the trim clips since they are silly money from the dealer if you break one.
Adrian.

I've fitted 2 sets of aftermarket steps to D3s, the Britpart ones fitted fine the second pair I got from somewhere in Liverpool looked the same but had problems with alignment of the brackets with the holes in the chassis, so the moral is aftermarket are ok just don't go for the cheapest. Displaced Yorkshireman.
=^:^=
SDV6 Auto obviously, Loire blue/Ebony, ugly kid glass, RLD wheel protector, private plate and maybe side steps.
