I think I read somewhere that the max size tyre was 255/50/20 with a max dia of 31.6

But the other members will be able to confirm if that’s 100% correct or not

Must admit though with low profiles I image the ride won’t be as smooth and more susceptible to
pot hole / off road damage , because of the narrow sidewall tyre

thanks, just clipped kerb and scuffed the rim (very annoying), never done it in 7 years with previous cars with 60 profile.

The first modification I did to my last 3 D4’s was to remove the 20” rims that they came fitted with, put those in the shed and fit either 19” or 18” (Compomotive) rims.

Like you, I have no time for kerbing rims on a proper 4X4 vehicle.

I also preferred to stick with oe tyre sizes.

To answer your question. I’ve not heard of anyone fitting 255/60/20 but I think a few here run 255/55/20, which has the same sidewall depth as a 255/55/19. You need to tell your insurance company though as it’s seen as a modification from manufacturers oe specifications.

As LT wisely says fit either 19” or 18” (Compomotive) rims - better ride on-road, and better traction off-road, and less risk of damage to tyres on our marvellous modern roads, riddled with pot holes.
