advice needed.. reassurance really... |
|
right, long story short, thoughts please,,,,
1. swmbo has VERy successful distribution business, needs more space than a d3, but not masses more, a brenderup cargo trailer or iforwilliams trailer 2 axle would do the trick nicely and keep her kit in nice order, and allow for future growth..
2. i'm starting my tree surgery courses etc mid feb and will need a trailer to cart kit/ wood/ lawn mower etc etc .. yeh i know, mid life and career crisis and all that but need to keep options open...
3. all swmbo's stuff COULD be loaded on a goor patriot/ G4/ rhino rack and as long as it was all waterproofed etc that's be fine.
4. if option 3 was taken then I'd only need a smaller flatbed with mesh side for my bit.
5. if i was to carry swmbo's kit in trailer and dual purpose into my tree lark then a box trailer would be a compromise but it'd work for the moment.
6. IS this the excuse i need to start expo-prepping the d3? do i go trailer or roof rack? am looking at ifor williams and brenderup trailers...
sorry but have had a little wine..... one wife.......livid

An ifor P6e+mesh etc is likely to be far more useful than a rack.
Tyrone Snell also do a nice trailer, aluminium panels with a gas strut lid, that wouldn't look out of place behind a D3
(speaking as someone who has the rack but keeps needing to borrow trailers ) Long succession of Disco's since 2001...
SIII Lightweight - neglected & rusting. Bulkhead, A panels, vent panel & outriggers now disintegrated - Next years project!

Got to be honest, a Sankey will do you well in the tree hugging business venture, and a stop gap for extra space. Witham actions website have quite a few on sealed bid auction, normally very reasonable.

No I dont work for them, I work for myself. The Ifor's I have were bought from Boulters of Banwell who are no more, but always done a good deal. The Boulter bit has now started again and its down towards your neck of the woods.
The roof rack wont work, cos you will soon get fed up of uphill loading especially when its wet.
If you want to stick a Prospeed rack on, just do it.

ok, so after much tooing and frowing,,,
solution has been found in the form of a brenderup 3251 TB twin axle with extended sides. just deciding between the hard seales but detachable roof (for swmbo's stuff) or the high top material cover (allows an extra 43cm of loading height over the hard top)
re security, with swmbo's stuff we load, we drive, we unload and set up, so the trailer is not left with £££inside so the soft top is / should be no deal,
price difference is only £200 between the two options at present.
thanks to you guys that offered advice... the prospeed rack is still in the mix too as am sure i'll need to stand on the roof sometimes to reach those hard branches.... one wife.......livid
