Advice Needed for Insurance Claim |

So after only what feels like a couple of weeks since getting the D4 SWMBO has an altercation with a motorcycle today.
Some hooray-Henry decided he wanted to blast past the standstill traffic in an almighty splendid manner and didn't notice her turning right in a teeny weeny little D4. Subsequently told the attending police officers that the sun was shining in his eyes and he didn't make out the indicates or the car .
The D4 has suffered a broken front arch, some damage to the drivers door, the bonnet looks knocked out of alignment and somehow the wheel has a chunk missing out of it.
I'd already booked her into Lookers at Bishops' Stortford for tis Friday for a warranty issue and my first choice would be that they take care of the repair. This is my preferred Option 1.
I also have an independent body shop i have used many times in the past and have great confidence in, but the wife has mentioned it didn't drive right when she bought it home so I'm wondering how clued up they'd be on any mechanical work it might need. Still - This is my preferred Option 2.
The insurance company have said they would like it to go to Balgores Motors of Romford who are authorised Land Rover specialist repairers apparently.... This is my least favoured Option 3.
Has anybody got any experience in this field?
I have a Land Rover warranty. Would getting it repaired from my friendly Option 2 invalidate it?
Has anybody had any experience of Balgores?
Any help or advice would be very much appreciated - I want my D4 back to looking and driving as she was.

The insurance company can't tell you who does the repair...........it's your choice.

Agreed, let your insurance deal with it. It's your choice to get it repaired where you like.

I may be wrong here but I think you can take it wherever you want. Its just if you've got courtesy car cover with your insurance that they may say you can only get that if you use their repairer. I had a bump in my car at the start of the year and I used a local body shop with a great reputation rather than the insurer recommendation which was neither local nor of such good repute! You have to have the conversation with your claims manager and see what you can work out.

I had my wife's MX5 repaired recently by the Insurer's recommended garage. I was very anxious about letting them handle it but was very busy with work so took the easy option. The result was a brilliant - top work by the body shop. Maybe i just got lucky D4 GS 12MY

It is easier to get Ins comapany to deal with it.
If job not done to satisfaction at their choice garage you do not sign off on it. The insurance company has a lot more clout with repairer if a sub standard job done than you as an individual. D4 Landmark MY16 Santorini Black THE LAST

I'd be asking the Insurance Company to deal with your preferred option 1, defo not option 2. Also are you sure your first choice actually do repairs or do they have a separate designated work-shop.
I'm sure they will do it, it's just a bit more of a pain for them as they will already have a relationship / fee structures for certain works.
The other thing I'd do first though is speak to your preferred dealer and make sure they can put you in one of the company demo's while your is in getting sorted. Hope all go's well.

Your choice of repairer, only benefit of dealing with insurers choice is paperwork, courtesy car etc. is a little easier.
If its a new D4, main dealer especially if you are concerned on the drive line.

Depends who's been allocated at fault - if the motorcyclist is at fault, then you can basically do what you want and get other insurer to pay (within reason), and the hire care does not have to be linked to their repair shop (you can get like for like).
If its your insurer that is taking the hit, the options are more limited as for example, they don't have to give a hire car if you don't use their repairer (it'll be in their T&Cs)
As others have said, it's generally easier to let your insurer deal with it though and push for a better hire car Sill protection - LED internal lights - LED reverse lights - boot liner - Dog Guard - Rock sliders

Most main dealers don't do body repairs these days and use external places, I'd go with the insurance company preferred option as like others say you have more 'come-back' if there's an issue and they should all use genuine parts

You can choose the repairer but check your policy to see what services are provided if you don't use the insurer's recommended repairer. LV won't provide a courtesy car and you have to project manage claim.
Land Rover provide a service where they manage for you. Making their profit from what they charge for repair.
You could claim through third party's insurer to avoid paying and recovering excess if they accept liability.
For a new car I'd always opt for a manufacturer approved repairer.

When our 59 D4 was brand new some tw*t in an Astra decided to drive along a dark unlit stretch of UK road at night with no headlamps on, and when my other half drove out onto said road the Astra went straight into the front nearside before going through the hedge upside down. Similar damage to the D4 as what's reported in the OP. Astra written off.
The supplying franchised dealer recommended a local bodyshop who fixed everything within a week and also dealt with the insurance company. Driver of Astra banned from the road indefinitely (he was elderly). He tried to claim 50/50 fault but failed.... 2016 Discovery 4 Commercial
