Hi to all.
I had a D3 for about 10 years and only got rid as the MOT fail and repair bills were far more than the car was worth.
An excellent all round vehicle. Living at 1000ft in the Pennines, horses, children, dogs… I couldn’t fault it.
After a few years away from LR, I now an opportunity to get a 2012 Discovery HSE SDI V6 - 3 litre 255 BH.
135,000 miles - It’s from someone who lives within the ULEZ zone in London.
Well looked after and all major things have been done to it he tells me.
I’d be interested to hear what D4 owners think, i.e. crankshaft issues and anything else that will help.

I bought one very similar mileage last October. Not done anything except routine maintenance and replaced some worn out items, which is fine at this mileage.
A wheel disintegrated but there were several factors at play there, including a weekend of offroading on 45 profile tyres and 30mm spacers. So, unfair to blame LR!

Thanks for the reply.
I’m doing my research and the crankshaft issue bothers me a little.
Although I did find a thread that said if it’s serviced regularly l, good oil and if the crankshaft hasn’t gone by 60k miles, it should be okay.
Also look out for rust underneath. Any particular areas I need to check on?

Mine's pretty rusty, especially at the back, underneath. A little bit on the rear sills, too. Researching fixes currently. Paying for a professional to do it first time seems most likely, then annual top up DIY.
As far as cranks are concerned, they are know to go in a minority of D4s. Doesn't seem to be any reason or rhyme to it, other than poor design/build, possibly not servicing enough. There are examples with several hundred thousand miles too.
I change oil on all my motors every 5k, including an engine flush and a ceramic treatment every 4 or 5. Hopefully this will be enough for the D4.
